Hello,it's great to come and find something that helps people with dyslexia!
I have dyslexia but i'm not fully dyslexic, I was found in my final year of primary school to have had this, and for me it was a hard thing to get my head around. At that time you are studying for your SAT's which are the tests to help you get in to the top sets and schools of where you live, and for me I was only top half way into the year. I didn't have any idea that I would have dyslexia to me, everything was normal, but what I did know was I was on the bottom table for English, and only middle for maths when I was putting 110% into everything!
It had come to parents evening the teacher had said she thinks I should be tested, and when the result came back it was positive! I found out and I was so upset but the thing was I didn't have a clue on what it meant? I had an idea in my head that now, because of that, things were going to get worst but it got better!
I know knew why I seen bright lines on the page as I read and why I was finding things a lot harder then my friends.
I made sure I studied harder because of dyslexia and got higher then my target level in my SAT's. So when I got to Secondary School I was found in top set, and no one knew about my hidden baggage (Dyslexia) I didn't mind people knowing about it, but it wasn't something that I was just going to bring up in a conversation.
I knew a few people from my primary school who had dyslexia so we still talked but I knew that when they were finding something hard they would always say, 'Oh Well,I have dyslexia so I couldn't do it' and I told my self I would never say that no matter what was going on, I would always try my best in everything I do and never let Dyslexia get in the way!
Lately me and friends have done a bucket list and on this I put, 'Draw Awareness to Dyslexia' and hopefully I will be able to do this with your help?
Please get in touch if you can help me draw awareness?
And if you wanna just talk about dyslexia, I will be here for anyone?xx
